Whatcom Hoops Boys Top 30: #8 Dawson Hintz

In an incredible season filled with outstanding players, Whatcom Hoops is ranking the top 30 boys. Each day we’ll feature an amazing player in our county and count down until we get to #1. So join us daily as we honor the best of the best.

#8

Dawson Hintz, sophomore, Lynden Christian

WHY HE’S #8: Once the 6-foot guard healed from an early-season injury, the Lyncs became the most explosive team in the Northwest Conference. Dynamic on offense with a deadly outside shot and unstoppable drives, Hintz also was one of the league’s best defenders, helping drive LC to the Class 1A state finals. After averaging 15 points, 4 rebounds, 3 assists, and almost 2 steals a game, he was named to the SB Live 1A all-state first team, the 1A all-state tournament first team, and the all-NWC second team.

COACH TIM ZYLSTRA: “Dawson came in hurt but inserted himself as one of the better defenders in the league, usually against players 3 to 5 inches taller. His engine keeps going, and he was a fierce competitor. For the team, he sacrificed (his offense) because he wanted to defend the other team’s best player every night.”
