Whatcom Hoops Boys Top 30: #27 Cory Olney

In an incredible season filled with outstanding players, Whatcom Hoops is ranking the top 30 boys. Each day we’ll feature an amazing player in our county and count down until we get to #1. So join us daily as we honor the best of the best.

#27

Cory Olney, senior, Nooksack Valley

WHY HE’S #27: The 6-foot guard was always one of the league’s top defenders, but this season he turned into one of the most improved players on offense. He averaged nearly 9 points a game over the season but by the end of the year he was the team’s second-best weapon, hitting double digits regularly both from the outside and driving to the hoop.

COACH JASON HEUTINK: “Cory is a grinder. He does all the little things and only gives 100 percent.  On defense, he took on the other team’s best offensive player every time.”
