Whatcom Hoops Girls Top 30: #1 Finley Parcher

In an incredible season filled with outstanding players, Whatcom Hoops wraps up its ranking of the top 30 girls. Each day we featured an amazing player in our county, and today we finish by honoring the best of the best.

#1

Finley Parcher, sophomore, Lynden

WHY SHE’S #1: She’s the best because there is no aspect of the game that she isn’t great at. The 6-foot guard can score inside, outside and everywhere in-between; rebound better than any guard perhaps in the state; see and make any pass possible; and shut down any opponent on defense. Her stats are impressive — 21 points, 7.5 rebounds, 2.5 assists, and nearly 4 steals a game while shooting 59 percent from the field and almost 80 percent from the line. But what sets her apart from even the top players is her basketball sense and the fact that nothing fazes her no matter how much pressure, which allows her to let the game come to her and make the big play at the right time — which she did game after game. After leading the Lions to back-to-back Class 2A state titles in her two seasons, Parcher was recognized as the 62nd best sophomore in the nation by Jr. All-Star Girls Basketball website, the SB Live 2A player of the year, both the SB Live and Tacoma News Tribune all-classification all-state first team, the 2A state tournament MVP, and, of course, the Northwest Conference player of the year. And what’s even more remarkable … she’s only a sophomore.

COACH ROB ADAMS: “A gifted player. One of her many strengths is her grit and motor.”
