Whatcom Hoops Girls Top 30: #16 Kate Shintaffer

In an incredible season filled with outstanding players, Whatcom Hoops is ranking the top 30 girls. Each day we’ll feature an amazing player in our county and count down until we get to #1. So join us daily as we honor the best of the best.

#16

Kate Shintaffer, senior, Nooksack Valley

WHY SHE’S #16: A veteran of the Pioneers’ two state championship teams and Nooksack’s lone senior this season, the 5-foot-7 guard embodied the team’s scrappiness and fight. She averaged 10 points, 5 rebounds, 2 assists, and almost 2 steals and for her all-around game, she earned a spot on the all-Northwest Conference second team and was chosen for the WSBCA’s all-state seniors game and the Whatcom County Seniors Classic.

COACH SHANE WICHERS: “Kate was our only senior and did a great job of leading by example and doing whatever the team needed her to do.”
