Whatcom Hoops Girls Top 30: #6 Grace DeHoog

In an incredible season filled with outstanding players, Whatcom Hoops is ranking the top 30 girls. Each day we’ll feature an amazing player in our county and count down until we get to #1. So join us daily as we honor the best of the best.

#6

Grace DeHoog, junior, Nooksack Valley

WHY SHE’S #6: The 6-foot-1 post was literally the big reason the young and inexperienced Pioneers’ returned to Yakima to defend their Class 1A state title. One of only two Whatcom players to average a double-double, she led Nooksack Valley with 14 points on 49 percent shooting from the field and 70 percent from the free throw line and with 13 rebounds a game. She expanded her all-around game by also averaging 2 assists and almost 2 steals a game. She was named to the SB Live 1A all-state second team and to the all-Northwest Conference first team.

COACH SHANE WICHERS: “Grace is able to score from inside and outside. She’s a great rebounder, and she is a player who enjoys what she does. You can see this by the smile she plays with.”
