Whatcom Hoops Girls Top 30: #23 Rian Stephan

In an incredible season filled with outstanding players, Whatcom Hoops is ranking the top 30 girls. Each day we’ll feature an amazing player in our county and count down until we get to #1. So join us daily as we honor the best of the best.

#23

Rian Stephan, junior, Lynden

WHY SHE’S #23: While basketball is a secondary sport for Stephan, who is committed to play Division 1 volleyball for the University of Washington, the athletic, 6-foot-2 forward was an unsung hero for the state champion Lions. She collected 5 points, 3 rebounds, and 2 assists a game while shooting an efficient 53 percent from the field, but it was her unselfishness and competitiveness that made her a key piece to Lynden’s success.

COACH ROB ADAMS: “A natural athlete. She can take over a game without even scoring a point.”
