#29

Lane Dykstra, senior, Lynden Christian

WHY HE’S #29: On another team, Dykstra might have been the go-to guy, but on the Class 1A state championship squad armed with offensive weapons, he was needed to do other things. The 6-foot-2 forward only averaged 4.2 points and 3.7 rebounds but they always seemed to come at important times as shown in the Lyncs’ playoff run. He also had 1.4 assists per game, but more importantly epitomized LC’s in-your-face defense and 100 percent effort.

COACH TIM ZYLSTRA: “Lane was huge for us down the stretch with his offensive rebounding and defense. He took multiple charges in the state tournament that didn’t show up on the stat sheet but were very important to our success. What I love about Lane is that he would never pace himself; he would just play so hard we had to take him out, because he had given everything he had. He was a great example of moving on to the next play and getting better every day.”
