In a season filled with outstanding players, Whatcom Hoops ranked the top 30 boys. Each day we featured an amazing player in our county and counted down until we got to #1. We hope you enjoyed the countdown as we honored the best of the best.
#17
Brant Heppner, sophomore, Lynden
WHY HE’S #17: The latest in the Heppner line of all-staters, the 6-foot-6 forward could shoot outside like his father and dominate inside like his grandfather. Like both he earned all-state tournament honors in helping the Lions to a Class 2A state championship. During the season he averaged 9.3 points and 5.3 rebounds and collected 21 blocks, and just like in football, he took his game to another level during the playoffs.
COACH BRIAN ROPER: “Brant Heppner had a breakout sophomore season and will only be getting better because of his work ethic in the gym and in the weight room. He is a versatile player who can score inside and hit 3s with the best players in the conference. He because an impactful leader by the end of the season and has a passion for the game that goes back to his days as our ballboy when he was in elementary school.”
