In a season filled with outstanding players, Whatcom Hoops ranked the top 30 girls. Each day we featured an amazing player in our county and counted down until we got to #1. We hope you enjoyed the countdown as we honored the best of the best.
#29
Ashley Lang, senior, Ferndale
WHY SHE’S #29: Lang, who played much taller than her 5-foot-3 status, bounced back from an early-season injury to have a solid offensive season for the Golden Eagles. She averaged 6.2 points per game, was one of Ferndale’s top 3-point threats, and collected 33 assists. But her forte was defense where she collected 30 steals and even pulled down 3 rebounds a game. Along with backcourt partner Ellie Ochoa, Lang made it a fullcourt nightmare for opposing guards.
COACH TERRI YOST: “Ashley injured her knee early on in our season causing her to be sidelined for a few games. She was determined to be back stronger than ever. That is the kind of player she is — determined and focused. She is tough and has a high motor.”
