In a season filled with outstanding players, Whatcom Hoops ranked the top 30 boys. Each day we featured an amazing player in our county and counted down until we got to #1. We hope you enjoyed the countdown as we honored the best of the best.
#6
Jeremiah Wright, junior, Lynden Christian
WHY HE’S #6: The Lyncs’ big man truly came up big this season in helping LC win back-to-back state titles for the first time in school history. The 6-foot-6 post dominated inside, averaging 15.3 points per game on 64 percent shooting from the field; pulling down nearly 8 rebounds a game; swatting away 1.5 shots a game; and nabbing a steal a game. His steady and consistent play in Yakima earned him the MVP award for the Class 1A state tournament to go along with his all-Northwest Conference first-team honors and Scorebook Live Class 1A all-state second-team honors.
COACH TIM ZYLSTRA: “Jeremiah was one of the top players in our league and the state. He set his goals high and didn’t stop until he got there for his teammates. His hard work and effort were key for us all year long … and he came up big in the biggest games.”
