In a season filled with outstanding players, Whatcom Hoops ranked the top 30 girls. Each day we featured an amazing player in our county and counted down until we got to #1. We hope you enjoyed the countdown as we honored the best of the best.
#16
Adia Newcomb, senior, Lynden
WHY SHE’S #16: The last member of the Lynden’s 2020 state championship team, Newcomb has been the veteran leader of the young Lions the past two years, helping them reach the state tournament both seasons. With the emergence of the youngsters, the 5-foot-7 guard’s scoring dropped to 7 points a game although she continued to be a dangerous 3-point shooter who dished out 3 assists per game. Her steady offense and hard-nosed defense earned her second-team all-Northwest Conference honors.
COACH VIC WOLFFIS: “Adia was one of our leaders on and off the floor, logging the second most minutes played per game, and one of our best, most aggressive defenders.”
