Whatcom Hoops Boys Top 30: #8 Mantaj Singh

In another amazing season filled with outstanding players, Whatcom Hoops is ranking the top 30 boys. Each day we’ll feature an outstanding player in our county and count down until we get to #1. So join us daily as we honor the best of the best.

#8

Mantaj Singh, senior, Ferndale

WHY HE’S #8: The 6-foot-5 swing man was a nightmare to guard — too strong for guards and too quick for big men. He could score in the Golden Eagles’ offense, run the break, or create his own shot, averaging almost 20 points a game. But he upped his game this season by crashing the boards for 8 rebounds a game and dishing out 3 assists a game. For his efforts, he was named to the all-Northwest second team.

COACH LUKE DuCHESNE: “Mantaj has led us in scoring for three years in a row and this year stepped up as a rebounder and passer. He was a 3-level scorer even though the (other teams’) best defenders always guarded him.”
