In another amazing season filled with outstanding players, Whatcom Hoops is ranking the top 30 boys. Each day we’ll feature an outstanding player in our county and count down until we get to #1. So join us daily as we honor the best of the best.
#16
Landon Melton, senior, Blaine
WHY HE’S #16: The 6-foot-6 guard-forward was the Borderites’ leader — not just on the stats sheet but by the way he bought into and modeled their disciplined offense and physical defense. He averaged 12 points, 5 rebounds, and more than 2 assists a game, and was the one Borderite whose hot shooting could turn the game around in a hurry.
COACH CHAS KOK: “Landon is an extremely talented person and basketball player who sacrificed for his team. While he had the skill to score a lot every night, he chose to commit to helping the team in other ways to make his team better. A big reason we played better basketball at the end of the year was his leadership and his trust in his teammates.”
