In an amazing season filled with outstanding players, Whatcom Hoops is ranking the top 30 girls. Each day we’ll feature an outstanding player in our county and count down until we get to #1. So join us daily as we honor the best of the best.
#9
Tyra Dykstra, sophomore, Lynden Christian
WHY SHE’S #9: There might have been players who scored more, but no one had a sweeter shot than the 5-foot-8 guard, whose 68 3-pointers were the most by a Whatcom player in the Northwest Conference. She averaged more than 13 points, 4 rebounds, and almost 2 assists per game and after helping lead the Lyncs to fifth place at state, she was named to the 1A all-state tournament first team as chosen by both the tourney media and Eli Sports Network. And because of her all-around game, she also was named to the all-NWC first team.
COACH BRADY BOMBER: “Tyra is an elite shot maker who consistently hit big shots when our team needed them most and rose to the occasion in key moments. She elevated her rebounding this season and brought a complete impact on both ends of the floor. The gravity she creates opens up opportunities for her teammates, and her unselfish, coachable approach makes her a joy to coach.”
NOTE: Thank you to the coaches and to Tyler Anderson of WhatcomPreps.com for season stats.
