Whatcom Hoops Girls Top 30: #16 Jordy Reeder

In an amazing season filled with outstanding players, Whatcom Hoops is ranking the top 30 girls. Each day we’ll feature an outstanding player in our county and count down until we get to #1. So join us daily as we honor the best of the best.

#16

Jordy Reeder, eighth-grader, Lummi Nation

WHY SHE’S #16: It’s hard to believe the 5-foot-5 guard is not even in high school yet, but she sure fit into the “run and fun” Lady Blackhawks, helping lift them to their first state trophy since 2009. A fearless shooter who led Whatcom County with 71 3-pointers and averaged nearly 15 points a game, Reeder actually was an all-around standout averaging nearly 4 rebounds, 4 steals, and 2.5 assists on the way to being named honorable mention all-Northwest 1B League (although she probably should have been first team).

COACH DAVID JAMES: “Jordy was a big part of our success this season, stepping up in key moments and helping the team finish fourth (at the Class 1B state tournament). Even as an eighth-grader, she played beyond her years and made a real impact. I’m really excited for the next four years. She’s only going to keep getting better and is going to be a force to watch.”
