Whatcom Hoops Boys Top 30: #22 Deandre James

In an incredible season filled with outstanding players, Whatcom Hoops is ranking the top 30 boys. Each day we’ll feature an amazing player in our county and count down until we get to #1. So join us daily as we honor the best of the best.

#22

Deandre James, sophomore, Lummi Nation

WHY HE’S #22: Although only 6-foot-2, the physical post played a big part in the Blackhawks’ incredible run to the Class 1B state championship. Providing the inside toughness Lummi Nation needed at both ends of the court, James improved all season, averaging 10 points and 7 rebounds a game while shooting nearly 57 percent from the field. For his efforts, he was named to the all-Northwest 1B League second team.

COACH JEROME TOBY SR: “Deandre’s game developed so much this season. His offense and his defense were a huge factor for our team’s success.”
