Whatcom Hoops Boys Top 30: #15 Owen Wichers

In another amazing season filled with outstanding players, Whatcom Hoops is ranking the top 30 boys. Each day we’ll feature an outstanding player in our county and count down until we get to #1. So join us daily as we honor the best of the best.

#15

Owen Wichers, senior, Nooksack Valley

WHY HE’S #15: The 6-foot-3 guard led the Class of ’26 out of the long shadow of last season’s seniors and lifted the Pioneers to the 1A state tournament for the first time in 15 years. A coach’s kid whose basketball IQ matched his talent, Wichers averaged nearly 13 points, 6 rebounds, 2 assists, and 2 steals and was Nooksack’s most consistent player during its end-of-the-season drive to Yakima.

COACH JASON HEUTINK: “Owen was a great scorer for us from 3-point and mid-range. He was very consistent, easy to coach, and a great team player.”

NOTE: Thank you to the coaches and to Tyler Anderson of WhatcomPreps.com for season stats.
