Payton Bartl, senior, Nooksack Valley
WHY SHE’S #13: The 5-foot-7 shooting guard was known for exactly that — her sweet outside shooting as witnessed by anyone who saw her make 14 3-pointers in the Senior Classic. But she was more than that, a big-game player who could drive, dish, dribble, and defend. She averaged almost 13 points, 5 rebounds, and 2.5 assists in helping the Pioneers reach the state tournament all four of her years and was named to the all-Northwest Conference second team.
COACH SHANE WICHERS: “Payton had to wear many hats for us this season. She had to be point guard and shooting guard in many of the games. She always did what the team needed her to do. She had the ability to hit shots from the outside and get to the rim when the opportunity was there. She also had the ability to make lots of baskets fast when she had space. She did a phenomenal job for us this year jumping into new roles depending on who we were playing.”
