In an amazing season filled with outstanding players, Whatcom Hoops is ranking the top 30 girls. Each day we’ll feature an outstanding player in our county and count down until we get to #1. So join us daily as we honor the best of the best.
#20
Eden Bernardy, junior, Meridian
WHY SHE’S #20: The 5-foot-7 guard was the Trojans’ most dependable offensive threat and one of the most relentless defenders in their relentless pressure defense. She averaged more than 8 points, 5 rebounds, 2 assists, and 2 steals but it was her determination and tenacity armor than her numbers that made her one of those players you loved as a teammate and hated as an opponent.
COACH KAYLA BERNSEN: “Eden is a powerful force and can set the tone with her teammates with her energy. I could always count on her to spark something for us. She is strong both mentally and physically. She is the kind of kid coaches dream about. She loves the game, wants to get better, and plays the best when she’s having fun. She leads by example, and we can always count on her to be on the floor for loose balls. She has the ability to change the game for us. She thinks and moves like an offensive threat. Her strong moves to the basket got us going many games this season — whether she was scoring herself or drawing defense in and creating opportunities for others. She is the kind of kid who is consistently staying after practice — not just to shoot, but to work on something she got feedback on in practice. More importantly, she is a great person. She is a conduit of positive energy and a leader in our community. We are lucky to have her.”
