Whatcom Hoops Girls Top 30: #21 Kayla Washington

In an amazing season filled with outstanding players, Whatcom Hoops is ranking the top 30 girls. Each day we’ll feature an outstanding player in our county and count down until we get to #1. So join us daily as we honor the best of the best.

#21

Kayla Washington, senior, Ferndale

WHY SHE’S #21: The 5-foot-4 guard was the spark plug who provided Ferndale with energy on both offense and defense. She was a dangerous and clutch 3-point shooter who averaged 11 points a game, but it was her determination and leadership — as well as her 3 rebounds and nearly 2 assists and 2 steals a game — that made her invaluable to a Golden Eagles squad that was beset by injuries.

COACH TERRI YOST: “Kayla shot the ball well this year. Her 3-point shot at the buzzer to win our play-in game was the highlight of our season. She is always positive, works hard, and was an incredible leader for our team this year.”

NOTE: Thank you to the coaches and to Tyler Anderson of WhatcomPreps.com for season stats.
