In an incredible season filled with outstanding players, Whatcom Hoops is ranking the top 30 boys. Each day we’ll feature an amazing player in our county and count down until we get to #1. So join us daily as we honor the best of the best.

#23

Austin McKay, senior, Sehome

WHY HE’S #23: McKay’s leadership and dependable play on the court were just what the inexperienced Mariners needed. The 6-foot-3 forward also added 10.3 points, almost 7 rebounds, and 2 assists a game — often in the biggest games — and was a consistent defender who could guard inside or outside.

COACH BRAD JACKSON: “Austin was a stalwart senior leader. As a captain, he helped set the tone for excellence on a daily basis. A fierce competitor, he had some of his best performances in the toughest games. Always a team player, he was loved by his teammates and coaches alike and exemplified the true Mariner spirit.”
