TOP 20 OF STATE 2020: Counting down the best games involving Whatcom County teams from March’s state tournaments.

#2 Lynden girls 60, West Valley (Spokane) 38

The top-ranked Lions completed an amazing season and amazing tournament with an amazing win over the Eagles to claim the Class 2A state championship, Lynden’s second in four years and third overall.

The Lions finished with a 27-1 record and outscored their three opponents in Yakima by an average of 23 points a game.

Leading the way were the Lions’ three senior guards, all of whom were all-tournament picks. MVP Ruby VanderHaak had 12 points, first-team selection Keylie Hershey had 22 points, and second-team pick Liv Tjoelker had 15 points.
