Whatcom Hoops Girls Top 30: #12 Lexi Hermanutz

In an amazing season filled with outstanding players, Whatcom Hoops is ranking the top 30 girls. Each day we’ll feature an outstanding player in our county and count down until we get to #1. So join us daily as we honor the best of the best.

#12

Lexi Hermanutz, junior, Lynden

WHY SHE’S #12: On almost any other team, the 5-foot-11 guard might be the go-to player, but not on the state champion Lions with all-staters Finley Parcher and Payton Mills. Still, Hermanutz had an all-state caliber season in her role, which was score when needed often in clutch situations, get the ball to teammates and play suffocating defense usually against the other team’s best player. She averaged nearly 10 points, 4 assists, 3 rebounds, 2 steals, and 1 block, and would be named to the all-Northwest Conference second team and to the all-defensive first team if there was such a thing.

COACH ROB ADAMS: “Lexi had what I would consider a breakout season. Playing alongside Payton and Finley, she can sometimes fly under the radar. I thought this season she stepped out from the shadows and had some of her best games in the biggest games.”
