3A District: Ferndale Girls Lose, Squalicum Boys Play Thursday

The Ferndale girls basketball team dropped its first-round game in the Class 3A District 1 tournament to the Snohomish Panthers, 47-34, on Wednesday afternoon at Snohomish.

The sixth-seeded Golden Eagles (14-7) will now drop into the consolation of the double-elimination tournament. They will play the loser of the Stanwood-Shorecrest game at the site of the higher seed on Friday.

Snohomish (13-7) is seeded third after taking fourth in the Western Conference (Wesco).

Squalicum boys will play at Arlington on Thursday in the first-round games of the 3A District 1 boys tournament … weather permitting, of course.

For updates on the game and how the other Whatcom County teams are doing in the 1B, 1A, and 2A tournaments, be sure to keep checking www.whatcomhoops.com.
