1A Boys District: Meridian Bounces Back, Nooksack Valley Knocked Out

The Meridian boys only had a day to recover from a big loss, but recover they did by earning an even bigger victory in the Class 1A District 1 tournament Thursday night.

The Trojans clobbered visiting South Whidbey, 67-47, to improve to 10-13 and earn themselves a trip to next week’s bi-district tournament.

Meridian will face Cedar Park Christian (Bothell) at Mount Vernon High School on Saturday at 2 p.m. … weather permitting … in the third-fourth place game of district.

Cedar Park Christian (11-10) earned a spot in the consolation finals by defeating Nooksack Valley, 52-40, in Thursday’s other loser-out contest. The Pioneers’ ended their season with an 8-14 record.

CLASS 1A DISTRICT 1 BOYS TOURNAMENT
Second-round games (Thursday)
Cedar Park Christian 52, Nooksack Valley 40 (loser out)
Meridian 67, South Whidbey 47 (loser out)

Consolation Final (Saturday)
Cedar Park Christian (11-10) vs. Meridian (10-13)  at Mount Vernon High School, 2 p.m. (winner third, loser fourth, both advance to bi-district)

Championship final (Saturday)
Lynden Christian (21-0) vs. King’s (17-4) at Mount Vernon High School, 5:30 p.m. (winner first, loser second, both advance to bi-district, winner to state)
