The Trojans dominated in the second half to eliminate the Vikings in Wednesday’s opening round of the Class 1A state tournament and advance into the quarterfinals.
For Meridian and its six seniors, it was the first trip to state in 10 years. The Trojans would lose the next two games, falling one victory short of a trophy, but with their 20 victories, the 2020 squad still earned its place as the winningest team in school history.
