Whatcom County Senior Classic All-Star Games Postponed

Due to concerns over the outbreak of the Coronavirus, the Northwest Conference has suspended all indoor sporting events, so the Whatcom County Senior Classic scheduled to take place this Friday, March 13, has been postponed until after spring break, according to co-organizer Brady Bomber.

The girls and boys basketball doubleheader each year matches all-star seniors from Whatcom County high schools in exhibition games, 3-point contests and a dunk contest.

Five members of the Class 2A girls state champion Lynden Lions were selected for the County Team, and they would have been joined by two members of the Class 1A state champion Lynden Christian Lyncs.

The City Team was to have three members of Ferndale’s Class 3A playoff team and two members of Sehome’s Class 2A playoff squad.

Bellingham, Lummi Nation, Meridian, Mount Baker and Nooksack Valley each had one representative on the girls teams.

On the boys side, four members of 1A state runner-up Lynden Christian were selected for the County Team along with three members of Nooksack Valley’s 1A playoff team, and two members of Blaine’s 2A playoff team.

The City Team was to have four members of Meridian 1A state squad and three from Squalicum’s 3A playoff team.

Bellingham, Lummi Nation, Lynden, Mount Baker and Sehome each had one representative on the boys teams.
