It was supposed to be a No.1 vs. No. 2 classic, but it turned out to be a showcase for the top-ranked Lions who used their height and athleticism to tame the Wildcats in the Class 2A quarterfinals.
Jordan Medcalf led Lynden with 21 points as the two-time defending state champs won their 11th straight state game and advanced to the state semifinals for the eighth time in nine years.
